ZLC Energy furthers environmental commitment with B Corp certification

January 2024: Cornwall-based renewable energy experts ZLC Energy Ltd today announces its certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp), underscoring a core commitment to environmental and social responsibility. ZLC Energy has been certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards, which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.

The B Corp certification is a prestigious acknowledgment granted to companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. ZLC Energy's achievement of this certification reflects an ongoing commitment to incorporating sustainable practices into every aspect of business operations and demonstrates a holistic approach to business, which integrates sustainability into its core values.

ZLC Energy has long been at the forefront of renewable energy innovation, empowering domestic and commercial customers to switch to sustainable energy services and technologies that include solar power, ground source heat pumps, and biomass. Recent customers include St Austell Breweries, Exeter and Falmouth and Shropshire NHS Trust. Achieving BCorp certification shows ZLC Energy's clear understanding of the wider benefits of green energy solutions, and its dedication to making a positive impact to the triple bottom line of profit, planet and people.

As a BCorp, ZLC Energy will continue to prioritise its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, and this certification aligns with ZLC's mission to drive positive change in the renewable energy sector, while ensuring a lasting and positive impact on the environment.

"We are proud to achieve BCorp certification and join a community of other forward-thinking businesses. This isn’t just a badge to us or a logo to display on our website, our B Corp status is clear evidence of our dedication to sustainability and corporate responsibility and the values we live every day in our business," said Managing Director, Matthew Shepherd.

"This recognition validates our ongoing efforts to operate as a force for good, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to helping every business that wants to help our planet by installing low carbon solutions."

ZLC Energy is now part of a community of 7,000 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises over 1,500 companies and includes well-known brands such as The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole. Other Cornwall-based industry B Corps include Leap Design for Change, Rodda’s, The Chaos Group and Ward Williams Associates.

Recent attention on renewable energy makes ZLC Energy’s B Corp certification a notable step and signals a shift towards greater accountability and transparency in this sector.
