University of Plymouth Business School Seeks Business Collaborators for Student-Led Innovation Projects

The University of Plymouth Business School is inviting businesses to collaborate on exciting student-driven projects set to begin in January 2024. This opportunity pairs second-year Marketing students with real-world companies to develop innovative product concepts through comprehensive consumer research and market analysis.

Participating businesses will gain access to fresh, creative perspectives that could inspire new additions to their product lines. Students will work on two main deliverables: a detailed research proposal and a final new product pitch, modeled after popular formats like Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank. This hands-on experience will also see students harnessing the power of Generative AI to enhance their project outcomes.

Minimal Time Commitment for Businesses:

  • Kick-off Meeting: A one-time introductory session with students to provide a business briefing.
  • Final Presentation: A wrap-up session in April to review and evaluate the students’ innovative ideas and prototypes.

Students are always really enthusiastic about these projects and often come up with some creative ideas that businesses find valuable, also these students will be working with and using GenAI. It works particularly well for companies that are interested in innovation but might not have the time or resources to explore new product ideas themselves.

What students offer:
  • Conduct consumer research and market analysis
  • Generate new product ideas for your business
  • Present their recommendations and prototypes
  • Provide insights on market opportunities
