mYcard – the eco-friendly contact sharing app – launches its corporate card version at the Cornish Business Fair (Stand 25, Wed 17 July 2024), enabling businesses to lead by example and fulfil their corporate environmental responsibility commitments. mYcard, the digital alternative to throwaway printed business cards, invests profits to fund planting projects, creating forests for the future, whilst reducing environmental harm. By switching to digital cards with mYcard, companies can proactively reduce their carbon footprint, minimize waste, conserve resources, sustain biodiversity and support a happier work force. |
Many consumers realise the need to make changes for the good of the planet in both the home and the workplace and the mYcard corporate card is a reassuringly simple way for employers to create positive change. In a recent mYcard survey 92%of those asked gave contactless business cards the environmentally friendly ‘thumbs up’. 98% of those asked admitted that climate change was a concern and a staggering 100% said they would prefer their employers to consciously choose environmentally positive decisions for the company business. mYcard reduces environmental harm Being digital, mYcard reduces the destruction of trees felled to print paper business cards – currently an estimated 2 million trees a year. mYcard also reduces waste as an unbelievable 88% of printed cards are discarded within just one week of printing. Traditional business cards are too environmentally harmful to be sustainable. In paper and card production, deforestation is just the tip of the iceberg. Pulping, bleaching, printing and lamination all squander enormous volumes of precious, clean water and discharge a cocktail of irretrievable pollutants into the environment. mYcard ’s genius is that it creates business cards that are regenerative, creating positive change. mYcard as a catalyst for change Malachy Dunne, the founder of mYcard, has brought together his knowledge as an environmentalist, horticulturist and a practising therapist, to create mYcard as a catalyst of change. He is only too aware of the growing prevalence of eco -anxiety felt by individuals who do not know how to begin to take steps to reverse the effects of climate change. He is a champion of the importance of the connection of people with Nature as a positive boost to emotional health. As an environmentalist and horticulturist, he is increasingly concerned by the low tree canopy cover in the UK (currently 13.2% of which half are native tree species) as well as the worrying decline in woodland wildlife. mYcard can help restore balance “mYcard is a way we can all invest in a bit of eco-therapy and work together to make a difference. It’s a great circular business - trees don’t get cut down to make throwaway cards – a real positive for the planet, protecting biodiversity. The profits made from the app, we reinvest in planting new trees, which is even better for the environment. I want mYcard to plant one million trees. This is a legacy that we can all share with the support of businesses and the community.” explains Malachy Dunne. How the corporate mYcard works Employers can download the mYcard app from both the Apple App store and Google Play. Once signed in as an employer, they can create their unique business mYcard using the mYcard templates provided in the design suite – personalising these with their company logo/pictures – and then share the new template with employees, who in turn can add their details (name, email and phone number) to the corporate company card. Employees can then share their personal version of the company card with their business contacts by Airdrop, WhatsApp, email or direct to another mYcard account. Conveniently – any changes made to the company card by employers or employees – such as the addition of a new email or phone number – are automatically saved in the address books of those contacts historically shared with. No need to manually update and the mYcard is always pristine and up to date. Subscription and sign up details can be found here – just £3 per employee per annum. The new corporate version of the mYcard app launches at the Cornwall Business Fair on 17 July 2024.
