Truro Prep Open Morning - Saturday 8th March 2025

We warmly invite you to attend our next Open Morning on Saturday, 8 March 2025, 10.00am – 12.00pm.

This special event is an excellent opportunity to experience the nurturing environment at Truro School Prep, meet our inspiring pupils and their teachers, and discover the range of exceptional opportunities we offer.

During the morning you can:

  • Explore the excellent facilities and classrooms, including specialist subject areas.
  • Meet our passionate teachers, dedicated to helping each child flourish academically and socially.
  • Learn about our values-driven approach to education and the supportive environment we offer.
  • See pupils engaged in their inspiring academic and co-curricular programs, learning inside and outside of the classroom.

Children are warmly welcome to attend with you and there will be activities for them to participate in throughout the morning.

Truro School’s Guide to Making the Most of School Open Days

A school’s Open Day is an opportunity for prospective families to experience its ethos, facilities, and atmosphere. While these events may not perfectly reflect a ‘regular’ school day, they provide valuable insights into whether a school will be a good fit for your child.

At Truro School, we prioritise putting our pupils in the spotlight during Open Events, which include a Pre-Prep, Prep School, Senior School, and Sixth Form Open Day. Our students are our best ambassadors, and as tour guides help showcase the school’s values-based approach that balances academic excellence with developing well-rounded individuals.

Visiting families can learn a lot by interacting with current pupils. While tours will highlight the school’s best aspects, genuine insights often emerge when students share their honest opinions about favourite (or least favourite) subjects, teachers, or school life. Observing their behaviour; their manners, demeanour and interactions with peers and teachers, can reveal whether a school aligns with your values and expectations for your child.

At Truro School, our Open Days are as much targeted to our prospective pupils as their parents. Time with peers helps visiting students ease worries and get an authentic glimpse into daily school life. Parents are encouraged to listen to these interactions as well as asking their own probing questions.

Our advice is to plan plenty of time for an Open Day; choosing a new school can be stressful and feeling like you are rushed or unable to delve into certain topics or concerns can be frustrating. At Truro School, our open events provide a time for drop-in talks with Leadership Teams, classroom workshops, informal chats with current parents, and admissions support.
We always encourage visitors to think beyond a single open event; coming back for a private tour or a taster day will give them another layer and a deeper understanding of what makes our school truly great.
