Coodes Solicitors shortlisted for three national Personal Injury Awards

Coodes Solicitors, one of the South West’s longest established law firms, has been shortlisted for three national awards in this year’s Personal Injury Awards.

The law firm, which has a network of offices across Cornwall and Devon, has been shortlisted for three awards in recognition of the firm’s highly accredited experts and dedication to client care. The firm has been shortlisted for Clinical Negligence Team of the Year, Clinical Negligence Lawyer of the Year and Outstanding Case of the Year.
The Personal Injury Awards provide a unique opportunity to highlight and celebrate individuals and organisations across the sector. They aim to identify high standards of practice to inspire others.

This marks the third year in a row the team has been shortlisted at the Personal Injury Awards. Last year the team was a finalist in two categories, Clinical Negligence Team of the Year and Rachel Pearce for Clinical Negligence Lawyer of the Year. Earlier this year, the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Team also won Team of the Year at the Cornwall Law Society Awards. Rachel Pearce was also highly commended at the Devon and Somerset Law Society awards this year whilst Julie Hatton won Litigation Lawyer of the Year in the Cornwall Law Society awards 2024.

In its entries, Coodes highlighted the team’s reputation for handling difficult and high-value claims, with expertise in a wide range of claims including birth injuries, catastrophic neurological injuries and amputations. Their ‘human-first’ approach to client care, making sure clients receive a sympathetic service with a focus on helping them rebuild their lives, was also emphasised.

The team supports the local community through running specialist free-of-charge drop-in clinics across the region, to give clients easy access to expert legal support and guidance to overcome the difficulty of accessing legal support in remote regions of the counties.

Coodes Solicitors Partner and Department Manager, Rachel Pearce, was also shortlisted in the category of Clinical Negligence Lawyer of the Year. With over 18 years of experience, Rachel is a true advocate of improving the standard of access to justice and legal services across the South West region. She is highly experienced in particularly challenging cases, and acts for clients in complex, high-value clinical negligence cases. Rachel currently serves as the Joint Co-ordinator for the APIL Devon and Cornwall Group.

Rachel Pearce, Head of the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence team, said “This shortlisting for three national awards is a fantastic achievement for the whole firm and I’m delighted that the hard work and expertise of the team has been recognised.

“The team represents the best we have to offer to our clients, and we pride ourselves on our passionate, human-centric and sensitive approach. Every member of our team fights to help our clients achieve justice, secure rehabilitation and compensation to rebuild their lives.

“I’m also thrilled that I’ve been shortlisted for Clinical Negligence Lawyer of the Year. At the heart of all my work is pursuing the best for my clients so I’m really happy this has been recognised in the awards this year.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 28 November in Manchester.
