Charity Show in Redruth raising money for The Hugs Foundation – Rescue Pony Dude Visits the Theatre!

Liz Nolan presents Kids & Co in ‘The Witches’ at the Regal Theatre, Redruth on Sunday 26th March, with performances at 2:00 PM and 6:30 PM. Tickets are selling fast from the Regal Theatre box office and website, from £7.50 for under 18s, and £13 for adults, with private boxes and family tickets also available. See www.regaltheatre-redruth.co.uk for more details.
This exciting tale, told in dance, music and drama, by a talented cast of children and adults, has been specially written for this performance. Find out what happens when an unsuspecting child lets the evil witches escape from their prison in the mighty oak tree, and they bring havoc and destruction to the world. Can the girls, with the help of magic, defeat the evil witches for good?
Proceeds from the show will be going to The Hugs Foundation which works with children and young people in crisis, and their families, to improve their mental, emotional and physical well-being, improve their self-esteem, and give them life skills. Spending time with animals is known to have great benefits for anyone, and The Hugs Foundation uses the horses, ponies and other animals that they rescue and rehabilitate to support the children and young people. This creates a virtuous cycle benefiting both people and animals. If you would like to hear more about the work of The Hugs Foundation, and support them, there are more details on their website www.hugsfoundation.org.uk. Their celebrity rescue pony, Dude, will be meeting and greeting everyone at the matinee performance.
Liz is an ex-professional dancer and choreographer working in TV, theatre, cruise and cabaret, now teaching all styles of dance in the Liz Nolan Theatre Dance School in Lelant, near St Ives. The school has been running for over 30 years and Liz and her students have raised thousands of pounds over the years for charities www.liznolandance.co.uk.

Their unique mix of support includes; animal assisted services, therapeutic outdoor learning, ecotherapy, teambuilding, arts and crafts, nature walks, and practical skills such as horticulture.

Situated in a unique, nurturing environment, Hugs supports a range of needs including; social, emotional, physical, and mental ill health, those who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect, low self-esteem, learning and developmental needs, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), social isolation, reengaging with education, life transitions, bereavements, self-harm and those at risk of suicide. The charity is one of the first organisations to be accepted onto the new Human Equine Interaction Register UK (HEIR). The register has been created to ensure all people involved in the field of human equine interactions operate credible, high quality, safe and ethical practice standards for their service provision.

The team are specialists in their field and work in a person led, holistic way. This ensures service users are the centre of their own recovery, allowing the Hugs team to support the individual to find their own answers and give them tools and mechanisms to keep the positive changes going once they have finished their time at Hugs. Over the years they have built working partnerships with mainstream schools, specialist schools, social workers, NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Cornwall Council, other charities and hospices.

Since opening in 2017, Hugs have helped over 600 young people and conducted over 5800 hours of sessions, with outcomes including reintegration into school, decreased anxiety, and depression, increased social inclusion, diminished suicidal thoughts, and improved life skills, coping mechanisms and resilience for long term impact. They have also rescued over 180 horses and ponies (and an array of other animals that now make up the Hugs team) and rehomed over 130.
