Lord Myners is Patron Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.
He was adopted by a Cornish family and spent this first eighteen years in Cornwall, attending Truro School.
Paul has spent the major part of his career to date in fund management including eleven years at NM Rothschild and Sons, latterly as a director, and seventeen years at Gartmore where he was executive chairman. He has chaired or sat on the boards of more than half a dozen FTSE100 companies and significant oversea firms, particularly in the United States. He was a Treasury Minister between late 2008 and Spring 2010 when he focused on Britain’s response to the global financial crisis, a member of the investment board of GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund and sat on the Court of the Bank of England for four years from 2004.
Paul is the Chancellor of the University of Exeter, taking a particular interest in the Tremough complex. He is a Member of the Court of Governors of the London School of Economics (LSE), a Visiting Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford and an Executive Fellow of the London Business School.
Paul sits in the House of Lords as a cross-bench peer and lives near Falmouth.
